Sat 22 July 2017 at 4pm, Torre Abbey, Torquay

Event: “Mild Swimming”   with Matt and Sophie 22/7/17

Love swimming but feel a bit nervous about venturing into the sea, lakes and rivers? Join us for a fun afternoon in beautiful Torquay.  We’ll  share our tips and experiences in a short illustrated talk at Torre Abbey, with some amazing images to inspire your adventurous soul.

The talk will cover how to stay safe, how to assess a swimming spot, including information on things like tides, currents and winds, and how to find other local swimmers to buddy up with. Importantly, it will also cover other crucial “mild swimming” essentials including having a laugh and eating lots of cake!

Then we’ll take a ten minute walk to a secret wild swim spot which features stunning caves and rock formations. There, guided by us and other experienced aquatic explorers, you will get a sense of the fantastic possibilities of swimming in the great outdoors.  The event will also be the perfect opportunity to meet and socialise with fellow future swim buddies!
Important: you MUST be a confident general swimmer.
The event is undertaken at your own risk and there is no safety cover.  Bring wet shoes or old trainers to swim in as there are rocks.
Cost: £10 per person to include a copy of our lavishly illustrated book “Beyond the Beach: the Secret Wild Swims of Torbay”.
